Hired Mark after getting multiple quotes and a few interviews. Went with him because he had more knowledge and experience of what exactly I needed. The quote was very competitive. Professionalism: Mark and his crew arrived on time. Everyone was very polite and considerate. The crew are experienced painters, not general hires. Even with the massive clutter in my house everyone was careful to keep everything clean. Attention to detail: I have a decent amount of painting experience myself so I know what to watch for - where there are likely to be misses. I have no complaints. Going the extra mile: As with any job, there are likely to be unexpected things. In one wall the plaster had an air pocket behind it and Mark chipped out the pocket and plastered it neatly. I added a couple extra doors to the list and asked for another coat on a couple walls - we agreed on a slightly modified price and he took care of it no problem. They even came in an additional day to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction. Bottom line: Color Concepts has a long history of A rated reviews and I agree with those reviews.

Mark Michaelson was a breeze to work with. He was friendly and professional and worked hard to make the house look amazing. He did painting and cleaning. He cleaned the siding and the gutter with a high-powered hose. This was a tough job because the gutters hadn’t been cleaned in years, but Mark did such a thorough job and really made the house look brand new. When it came to painting the stucco façade, trim, front porch, and back porch—he was excellent. He got the whole job done on time, and with a high level of quality. He even helped me select complementary colors for the door and the basement walls. He has a real eye for color. The colors went well together and looked sharp. He painted my entire farmers porch with great care, it looks fabulous– now one of my favorite places to hang out around the house. It went wonderfully. We have used Color Concepts in the past, and they continued to meet (and even surprised us by exceeding) our high expectations. Mark and his crew primed and painted opaque stain on cedar shakes and touched up soffits and trim. Lines were sharp, and no paint droplets were left anywhere. They also did nice touches like noticing some loose trim and nailing it tight and caulking gaps before painting to give an even smoother (and bug and weather resistant) look. The surprise came when Mark knocked $100 off his estimate for the second day as they were able to finish the job more quickly than he had anticipated. Who comes in UNDER estimate? Color concepts did.

Mark really cares about giving you beauty and a high esthetic. He treats your home with utmost respect- totally cleans up as he works, does the job like it was for his own home and with an eagle-eye to detail for the best possible result. He is not someone you have to watch everything he does because you know he is watching things even better than you would. Our home is over 100 years old- the kitchen cabinets were at least 40 years old and in very poor condition- Mark made the cabinets look like new. Spectacular! The work was excellent. Mark had helpful suggestions before and during the job on how best to proceed, and also fit us in by doing the work on a Saturday and Sunday of a holiday weekend so that we wouldn't have to wait until some of his bigger jobs were done later in the season. Mark was able to finish the job in 2 days as he expected when he quotes the job. The overall quality is pretty good. He was able to squeeze in this project between his other big projects. He kept his words. There were a few spots that was in pretty bad shape before painting, and he managed to get them fixed and then after painting, they look like new. That is really impressive. His price is not the lowest, but pretty reasonable based on the quality of his job. And he took some initiative to paint a few things that make the whole place look much cleaner, which is highly appreciated.

Mark came out within days to provide estimate (on a Saturday) and explained that it would be approximately 2 weeks before he could do the work. Mark then called the next day (Sunday) advising he had an opening in his schedule and asked if Monday would work for us. Indeed it did. The experience was great. Mark came over to give me an estimate and was extremely professional, friendly and knowledgeable. He didn't just ask me what I wanted and leave it there, he also gave me a lot of guidance based on what different paint types would achieve in different rooms... bathroom vs kitchen vs living room...etc. The work was performed quickly and done nicely. There were several walls that needed some patching and he did that at no additional cost. After the work was performed I had noticed one wall didn't get patched the way I wanted and Mark came the very next morning and now the wall looks great. My place was always left in good condition and as his team completed different sections they put the rooms back together ( granted, I don't have much stuff). I would definitely hire them again. After the first day, I felt completely comfortable leaving them alone in my condo. (Note: Not that this should matter, but I am a woman that lives alone and not once was Mark condescending or rude, or did I fell he was trying to rip me off. Not all guys will do that when there is no "man" of the house, but some will. I was totally comfortable with this experience.)

From the first phone call to the very last brush stroke, Mark and his team were very responsive, professional, and eager to make this experience a positive one. Before the job even started, Mark came to our home with his color wheels and helped my wife and I navigate our way through the entire house to achieve the design aspect we were looking for. Once hired, Mark and his team showed up when they said they would, worked full days, and always kept me up to date on the game plan. Not only did they have their own strategy to tackle my entire home (>3000ft2) in time, but they were open to having me provide some input on direction with having to orchestrate around appliance and furniture deliveries. Before their final day and before Mark would accept final payment - he handed me a roll of painters tape and asked for my wife and I to walk through every room and place a piece of tape at any area that we wanted them to touch up. Anywhere. No matter how big or small the detail, he wanted to ensure the job went as smoothly as possible and that before he left on his final day - that we were happy and satisfied with their work. As an update to this post, I still remain in contact with Mark, and intend on hiring Mark and his crew to paint the exterior of my home when the time comes (hopefully soon!). My wife and I could not be happier with the overall experience and excellent results provided by Mark Michaelson of Color Concepts. Among the four different contractors we met to discuss the project and collect estimates, Mark immediately stood out as the most thoughtful, knowledgeable, courteous, and personable. No other contractor was as transparent nor as informed in discussing how each task should or could be performed. For example, one contractor told us that we should hire a flooring contractor to refinish the mahogany floor of our front porch, and others told us we should paint over our beautiful mahogany, while Mark explained exactly how he would do the job and which product he would use. Mark's price was competitive with the lowest price, even though the lowest price did not include our porch floor. The proof of Mark's superior know-how and meticulous attention to detail is how beautiful and brand-new our porch floor now looks with the gorgeous mahogany color and grain showing through! He used only the highest quality paints and stains, such as Benjamin Moore's Aura, and he spent a great deal of time helping us to explore and consider color scheme options. From our first meeting Mark maintained excellent and proactive communication, setting our expectations and reaffirming our choices along the way. He told us when the project would start, and that was when it started, and also he would tell us on which days he would do which tasks, and how long each would take. He took the time and trouble to paint a "test" area of the house from a small paint sample to ensure that we approved the color before buying gallons of the paint for the job. This really helped us a lot to figure out a two-toned color scheme for our garage doors that has drawn many compliments. The entire project proceeded within budget and according to plan without any surprises, except how much more beautiful our house looks than we ever expected. Mark and his crew couldn't have been more unobtrusive, and they kept things clean and neat as they went. We continue to receive many compliments on how our house looks from neighbors and friends, who often ask us who did the job. We feel truly lucky to have found such an excellent contractor, and would recommend Color Concepts Painting and Mark Michaelson enthusiastically and without reservation to anyone who wants a high-quality, hassle-free, and reasonably priced paint job. Mark responded promptly to our request for an estimate showing up at the agreed upon time and date. We walked through the job with Mark pointing out areas of potential concern and suggesting ways of dealing with these concerns. We also discussed possible color schemes. This is an area in which Mark excels and he gave us some options to consider. Upon receiving his estimate, we were pleased to find that he had submitted a very fair bid. Our son-in law who is a contractor in another state had looked at what we were planning to do while on a visit here and gave us his estimate of what he thought the price should be. Mark and his crew arrived on time on the day and time scheduled to begin the job and every day thereafter. When they were done, we felt that we had a brand new house on the outside. We have also hired Mark to do the interior of our house after Christmas ( all walls and ceilings in our kitchen/dining area, living room, 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, downstairs/upstairs hallways) for the same cost as the exterior job. Mark will return to help us decide on color schemes; his input in this area is terrific as he has a real talent putting colors together. We are eagerly looking forward to the interior job based on the exterior results. Mark and his crew were great to work with. They were efficient, thorough, and professional. We believe that we could not have made a better choice.

Hiring Color Concepts was a great decision on my part. Mark, Aaron and Kenny were great and fun to be around. They even cleaned my ceiling fan and chandelier (even changed the light bulbs) and also washed the glass in my skylight. The painting is perfect and I couldn't be happier with the results. Mark was excellent to work with from beginning to end. He came to my home promptly for a quote and also quickly fit me in, which was great because I just had new hardwood flooring and carpet installed so my house was in disarray and I wanted the job finished quickly. When he and his crew showed up for the first day, on time! (they were on time every day), Mark was still just as friendly as when I first met him and his crew was equally friendly. He made sure to reiterate that the floors were new and to be extra careful not to get paint on them. When I requested help with picking paint colors he gave me great suggestions and was patient with me when I was still not sure about the color choices I had made. He made sure to walk through the job with me and double check his work before he took the final payment. Everything was clean when he left. I wish this site allowed for before and after pictures because in the end everything came out better than I expected. he We feel like we have a brand new home and we love it!. Mark was extremely easy to work with. He regularly would check in with us throughout the job to keep us informed of the progress. He would ask for our feedback as he completed each room. One of the colors I choose ended up being much lighter than I had expected once I saw the two rooms completed. I asked Mark to redo the two rooms with a new color. Mark was very flexible about doing this for me and was very reasonable about the additional cost to paint those rooms all over again. It wasn't until after our entire job was done and we had given Mark his final payment, that we realized how great he really was. Mark responded immediately when we informed him that we noticed a few things that needed to be touched up. He came right away to make the minor corrections and spent a decent amount of time looking over every room to make sure he had not missed a thing. We were very pleased with the whole process. A few days after our initial contact with Mark Michaelson, the owner, he spent time with us to help with the color selection process. We knew that we wanted to use bolder colors than we had in the past, and he was very patient with us, providing suggestions and respecting our choices. Mark previously did work on our house in Duxbury (exterior trim in August 2011; still looks brand new three years later!). We have often recommended him to friends up and down the South Shore. Gorgeous work! We have had interior work done by Color Concepts/Mark Michaelson in the past, and we were so impressed that we decided to ask him back for our exterior. He helped us choose colors (without being overbearing in the least), and we're especially pleased that we went with a light blue for our porch ceiling (it's subtle, but the effect is beautiful and calming). On top of their usual neat work (cleaning up/leaving behind no drips and leaving a clean site when they're done), a few things stood out as going above and beyond: 1. We were just finishing up work with a carpenter who had built a new deck and Mark coordinated some very nice finishing touches with him. 2. Though the estimated time was about 10 days to complete the project, Mark and his crew were able to complete the entire job (to our complete satisfaction) in only four days! 3. There were several burnt out bulbs in spotlights on our roof that Mark installed new bulbs that we provided to him (at no extra charge). It was a pleasure to have a down to earth, professional, conscientious group paint our house, and we'd absolutely hire them again for our future painting needs.

I found Mark on Angie's list and after reading his reviews I decided to give him a try. I was very pleased with his work. He painted a bedroom and my kitchen. He made minor repairs to small holes in the walls and was able to finish the job, two coats each, in one day. He was right on time and only took a few short breaks, The rest of the time he was working non stop. He cleaned up after himself. I had already purchased the paint myself but decided to have a painter do it because I am not very good at it. He was very personable and friendly. I would use him again in the future. He does interior and exterior painting, so I may have him back to do my house trim.

Mark was great, we worked out all details of the work we wanted, We selected the colors from paint samples from (Lowe's Valspar paint chips) and gave him the color info we selected and he matched them perfect (he uses Benjamin Moore paint). I couldn't be happier. My wife and I have always painted our own interior because we felt that while hiring painters might be easier, they wouldn't treat the house as if it were their own. When we needed some areas painted that we simply couldn't reach, we bit the bullet and got two estimates from painters on Angie's list. Mark's estimate came in at about 66% of the price the other estimate did, and that, as well as his enthusiasm, got him the job. Not only did Mark and Aaron (his assistant) treat our home as well as we would have ourselves, they were faster, neater, and more skilled than we possibly could have been. Their true professionalism shows in the final paint job, and they were a delight to have in the home. Not only is the painting they did flawless, but our home is actually cleaner than it was before the job! (Mark was in some difficult to access areas, so he wiped off the tops of my cupboards.Aaron changed out the lightbulbs on our chandelier). It was these constant niceties/considerations that really put them over the top in my mind. Every effort was made to do quality work. The completed project speaks for itself. We were so impressed and pleased that we plan on having them back in the spring to paint the outside of our home. If you are scanning through Angie's list for a painter, do yourself a favor and get an estimate from Mark. You'll be glad that you did.

If you want a job done of the highest quality, done by meticulous professionals you need Color Concepts. I have an old house built in the 1890's which had lots of dings and and scuffed woodwork. The preparation in repairing those imperfections that Mark and his associate Aaron did was exceptional. They advised me, if I asked for it, on color. They were punctual and worked full eight hour days and more when needed. In addition they were very gracious working around other contracators in the house. It was a very comfortable working with them and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would recommend them unconditionally.

Each room had floor to ceiling wallpaper, with an average room size of 14x14 and 9 foot ceilings. Mark and his assistant did a terrific job removing the wallpaper and making the plaster walls very smooth prior to painting, which my husband and I did ourselves. Mark had completed some painting work for me in the past and it was excellent. A couple of year's later, my wife and I decided we wanted to change our home's colors so we called Mark as he had done such an amazing job previously. We weren't quite sure what colors would be best but Mark was able to help with that. He asked us what kind of "look/theme" we were looking for and a few basic colors that we liked. He then showed us a few samples of exactly what we wanted. Once we chose the few that we liked, Mark wanted to show us just how important lighting is in choosing the right color so he brought back larger sameples of the colors we liked (instead of the small ones in the color wheel) and taped them up on different walls of our home so we could get a feel for each color; this was great and it allowed up to make the perfect choice. Our condo was completed on time just as he promised. His best work is in our downstairs bathroom; we decided to do a faux finish. If you are looking for quality painting, especially a faux finish, Mark is definitely the best around.

I decided to put my house on the market to sell and it was recommended by my realtor that I have the place painted. I contacted several painters. Mark Michaelson of Color Concepts responded to my phone inquiry within ten minutes. He came promptly to give me an estimate which was (I thought) very reasonable. He was extremely consientious and called the night before to confirm that he would be there by a specific time and arrived as promised. His work was neat, he cleaned up as he went along, vacuumed and swept (inside) and did a terrific job! He worked straight through the day because he knew I was on a tight schedule. He used Benjamin Moore paint that looked great when done. No drips, no bleeding through. I was very pleased. The outside work was conducted in the same manner. He caulked where it was needed, prepared the area (scraping), used drop cloths all over the place. Overall I was very impressed with Color Concepts work and definitely will hire Mark Michaelson again. I recommend his services highly. Call him if you are in a pinch!

My sister gave me Mark's name. I called Mark and immediately reached him on his phone. From the beginning he was enthusiastic and accommodating. He was able to come out and give me an estimate the next day. He gave me a quote for the labor and I was responsible for buying the paint. He stated he could do the work in the time frame I had available. The price was much less than I expected because the place was new and the walIs did not need any prep work and the molding did not need to be painted. I received two other estimates and both were higher. Since my sister knew him, I felt comfortable hiring him. He stopped my house and dropped off the paint fan so I could pick my colors. He offered to help me pick colors if I needed some help. I met Mark at the local paint store to buy the paint. He was able to use his discount to get a reduced price on the paint. Due to the size of the job, he had another painter help him out. They arrived about 1/2 hour later than expected but Mark called to tell me they would be late due to traffic problems. They were very careful to protect my floors and furniture. They had 4 days to paint 6 rooms. My living room has 18 foot ceilings, but this was not a problem. They used two coats of paint in every room. One of the colors I chose ended up being too dark and I needed to go buy a lighter color. Despite having already started to paint the room, he did not charge me extra to repaint. At the end of the day, they were very careful to clean up and put their supplies in place where they would not be in my way. The work done was neat and crisp. Mark was very careful to check that there were no areas that had been missed. They were able to complete the job in time. Throughout the entire process they were polite and very pleasant to be around. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Mark again.
